Weingut Martin Göbel
The 1200 year old wine area, Randersacker, lies in the sunny Main Valley, and is said to be blessed with having the best wine growing areas. Wines, which regularly win national and international prizes, flourish here.
The winery of Martin Göbel, whose ancestors had vineyards here in the 17th. century, lies in the eastern core of Randersacker. It remains a family operation, which has, for all those generations, tended the vines from which they make outstanding wines.
This family winery has been a tradition for over 400 years; and the whole operation is controlled by master vintner Hubert Göbel, and his wife Rosemarie.
They grow quite a range of grape varieties in their limestone shale ground, something which is more than rare in Franconia. In fact, they produce something of an abundance of wines from both old and new varieties. The principally dry varieties lend the wines a particularly harmonious character through the richness of the must, and their acidity.
The work to attain such wines begins early in the year in the fields, well before the work in the cellar. At that time, careful, repetitious pruning of the vines as well as natural conditions will determine the quality of the wine. By carefully reducing harvest quantity, they are sure of producing typical wines, full of character, from those grapes.
