Father and son, Herbert and Manfred Braun, with only an extremely small winery, make some of the most outstanding wines in Franken.
Franconia is the world's home to Silvaner, and this winery produces not only from the ancient grape varieties, such as Silvaner, but also from other classic grapes, such as Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), and the more modern, such as Dornfelder and Acolon. Much of their production is of dry wines, but there are also some quite outstanding desert wines produced, such as Eiswein and Beerenauslese.
This winery is a true family business, until recently operated by the parents, grandparents, and, occasionally, the children. Winery and residence were simply in the one building.
Sadly, in more recent years, both mother and grandmother passed away, and now the winemakers, father and son, soldier on with their determination to make the most excellent wines, a determination rewarded by a long list of gold and silver medals.
Now, during the harvest and following period, other, more distant family members are called for duty.
