Our classification of specialty wines generally cover what is known as fruit wines.
Some very few, small vintners in Germany turn their attention to fruit wines, which are almost exclusively the province of the hobby producer. One of the most favoured fruit wines is cherry wine, made 100% from ripe cherries. One of our vintners produces an exceptionally good version of this wine.
Cherries are very suitable for wine making on account of the fact that they have a considerable acidity. If the cherries are carefully selected, and only healthy, fully ripe berries are used, then the resulting wine can be of very high quality, producing a mouth filling sensation of ripe cherries.
Other fruits are also suitable for wine making, and at such time as we discover a fruit wine of such a standard as to be able to rank with a good wine, we will bring these to our customers.
